Grants for Publishers and Literary Agents
The annual Göteborg Book Fair and the Swedish Arts Council have once again jointly decided to provide funding for non-Nordic publishers and literary agents interested in attending the Göteborg Book Fair.
The fair will take place 23 - 26 September 2010. Non-Nordic publishers and agents who have not previously attended the fair are eligible to apply for this funding, which will cover travel and hotel expenses for up to four days' presence at the fair. Please note that applications can only be submitted by the publishing houses/agencies and payments are only possible to publishing houses/agencies.
Application forms can be found on www.artscouncil.se Applications must contain the following information:
• for publishers, a presentation of recent publications and where appropriate, description of contacts with Swedish publishing houses
• for agents, a description of the agency and its activities
Information should also be provided regarding the type of literature the applicant works with literature for children and young people, prose fiction, poetry, or non-fiction.
This joint effort is a contribution to efforts to raise awareness of Swedish literature in the international publishing sector, and to reinforce the ability of Swedish authors to reach readers in other languages via translation. Subsidies for translators from Swedish to attend the fair have long been available.Further information on Göteborg Book Fair on www.goteborg-bookfair.com
